Congratulations to Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan and Kailash Satyarthi of India who have won the Nobel Peace Prize and who work hard for the rights of children.  Yousafzai is not the youngest to have received the prestigious reward at the tender age of 17.

She was on the news for quite some time after bring shot in the head by a Taliban soldier.  The reason she was shot was because she wanted to learn a pushed the idea that girls and boys should get an education, not just boys.

Satyarthi who is 60 years old have been a leader in the fight against child trafficking since the 1980s.  Once an electrical engineer, he gave it up to start a moment in support of the rights of children.  He describes the trafficking of children as “a crime against humanity.”  His insistence has brought great attention to the movement and is inspiring others to fight for the safety and rights of children all around the world.

It seems the committee for the Nobel Peace Prize wanted to send a message that the rights of children are important. However, they forget that children are aborted daily throughout the world.  They are not given rights nor respect as human beings. What is the point of fighting for rights for children if you do not fight for them when they are in the womb?  Moreover, I was hoping that Pope Francis would have won the Nobel Peace Prize.  He has done nothing more than promote peace and speak out against not only child trafficking, but also the injustices found throughout the world.  No Pope has ever been given the Nobel Peace Prize which may be an indication that the organization behind the prize is not fond of the Catholic Church. It is absurd that the leader of the world’s largest charity and promoter of peace has never been given this award.  The office of the “Pope” has been doing this for over 2,000 years!
