The Holy Father Pope Francis has just led the first ever global Eucharistic adoration!  At 11:00 AM EST time – 8:00 PM Rome time, Pope Francis initiated an event that would be happening simultaneously around the world in every diocese and every parish.  The universal Church was united in prayer before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.

Some speculate that this was originally Pope emeritus Benedict XIV’s idea due to his induction of the Year of Faith for 2012-2013; however, Pope Francis may have planned this on his own.

This event will hopefully “re-energize” Catholics worldwide.  Adoration is extremely important.  Jesus left us Himself in the holy Eucharist.  He awaits us in the Tabernacle every day.  Hopefully this will also encourage parishes around the world to have adoration chapels so that people can come throughout the day to spend time with the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.
