Today asteroid 1998 QE2 is passing by planet Earth at a very close distance.  It will be at its closest at around 4-5:00 PM today EST time.  The asteroid was observed to have its own “moon” orbiting it.  It poses no threat to Earth, so do not panic nor sell your stocks and other items.  This visit from one of our many millions of neighbors will help us learn more about these large bodies traveling through space.

The asteroid will be nearly impossible to see without a power telescope, but you can view it here: http://www.space.com/19195-night-sky-planets-asteroids-webcasts.html
